Though she has spent all her life outside Bengal, she had a passion for writing stories in Bengali right from her school days. Once possessed of an idea for a story, she could not rest till it was reduced to writing. But she had no interest in getting her stories published. As a result, all her manuscripts were accumulating in boxes. Later, on her husband's initiative, the stories were sent for publication. The first story, 'Chhabilal' was published in 'Nabakallol' in 1977. After that more than 200 stories have been published in various magazines. Some of her stories have been broadcast from All India Radio.
